Marriage and Family Life

Marriage Preparation

“The matrimonial covenant, by which a man and a woman establish between themselves a partnership of the whole of life, is by its nature ordered toward the good of the spouses and the procreation and education of offspring; this covenant between baptized persons has been raised by Christ the Lord to the dignity of a sacrament.” (Catechism of the Catholic Church, 1601)

Recognizing the important mission entrusted by God to married couples, the Catholic Church values preparation for this vocation. Desiring to invest in holy marriages, parishes seek to provide a supportive community and the tools necessary to forge a strong, committed love.

On the left side of the page you will see Steps to Get Married which will give you the general overview on how to get married in the Catholic Church. You will also see Engagement Resources that will provide various documents, videos, and audio resources to help prepare before getting married and the first years of your marriage. Finally you will see Pre-Cana Retreats which are 1-Day retreats for you and your fiancé to grow deeper spiritually in the understanding of the Sacrament of Marriage.

If you have questions about pre-marital paperwork or are from another Diocese and need to send a file to us, please contact The Chancery office.
